In this promising if unpolished debut from University of Louisville law professor Ochs, a diving instructor and an influencer investigate a string of mysterious deaths. Cass has lived peacefully on the Thai island of Koh Sang for the past two years, and she's planning to put down roots there with her fiancé, bar owner Logan. Her secret past comes calling, however, when she receives an anonymous envelope containing an incriminating photo and a handwritten note threatening to reveal her true identity. That same day, someone in her diving class dies, and another student is critically injured. Meanwhile, beautiful American influencer Brooke arrives on Koh Sang escaping an undisclosed past of her own, and takes a special interest in the death of Cass's student. Her curiosity sets Cass on edge, and when more deaths occur, the two women scramble to find out who's responsible while concealing their individual secrets from each other. Ochs skillfully keeps the big reveals under wraps until the end, even as she teases out questions about potential links between Cass and Brooke. Unfortunately, awkward prose ("I savor the taste of the smoothie, letting the sticky sweetness drown out the bitterness of my lie") and flat characters undermine the tension. This doesn't quite gel, but Ochs's adept plotting is reason enough to look forward to her next effort.

An Entertaining Read!
This book alternates between Cass and Brooke, who both have hidden secrets.
Cass is a dive instructor at Koh Sang Dive Resort in Thailand. Just after she is newly engaged, she receives an envelope with a photo that says “I know who you are. And soon everyone else will too.” Will her dark past catch up to her?
Brooke is a college drop out who is a travel influencer on Instagram and TikTok. She is working at the resort as a waitress until she can get her certification to be a dive instructor.
When Lucy, a guest at the resort, is found dead and her death is ruled an accidental drowning, Brooke and Cass don’t believe it. Can they figure out who killed Lucy before the killer strikes again?
A slow burn, resort story that has misbehaving characters with secrets. As the story unfolds, the twist and turns will have you turning the pages to find out who did it.
Just when you think you have it figured, the ending will surprise you! A great read to take on vacation!

I read this book in 2 days. Kept me on edge, one of the best books I have read in a long time.
Very intriguing
This book was a great read. Kept my attention the entire time. I loved the story being told from two characters viewpoints. There are so many plot twists and just when I thought the twists were done, there was one more.
