The Return - Spoilers
This book is such a powerful statement about holding predators accountable for their evil behavior as soon as they are caught. Regardless of the perceived consequences and threats from the predators to the victims, running away and not filing charges allows the evil acts to continue and hurt many more people!! I am stunned that Katrine allowed such vile and cruel behavior- but equally stunned that Signe did not press charges against Mads!! How many more victims did Mads rape and shame in his ascent to power? Just one evil act by a rotten apple must be punished and purged before a whole barrel of rotten apples can cause unimaginable pain and suffering! Almost too painful to read about children suffering and being abused and mistreated by their own families - fathers, brothers, silent mothers. Silence equals complicity.
