Foundations of the Moon Runes is part of the Rhumgold Sagas - a series of 28 tales based on human and alien civilizations in the Antares Star system. Humanity leaped into space in a big way following the invention of the Starlight Drive, but they got to Antares and their ship broke down. They were left to fend for themselves. An alien race calling themselves Marconians were already there but allowed humanity to live in peace.
