The Righteous Smuggler
I normally read adult books, I passed by the school age level of reading decades ago. I have read several of the Shoah books that are survivor testimonials. This book is a great way to introduce a younger reader with a since of history to the Shoah and other series of books written by Jewish survivors. I give this book a 5 star rating. I truly gives a younger reader the level understanding as to the heroism demanded of grade school and high school kids at the time. Their life was on the line on a daily basis. At the end of the read, I enjoyed how the author skipped from World War II 1940’s to a president day award ceremony in Israel with wife “Pigeon”. The conclusion of the book gave me chills. In a student level book, I was not ready for this level of gravity at the end.
Hopefully this book will attract hundreds of junior readers so that “another generations will remember”. Howard Hubler
