Publisher Description
The tidal archipelago of Spinner's Drift is a refuge for misfits. Can the island's magic help a pie-in-the-sky dreamer and a wounded soul find a home in each other?
In a flash of light and a clap of thunder, Scout Quintero is banished from his home. Once he's sneaked his sister out too, he's happy, but their power-hungry father is after them, and they need a place to lie low. The thriving resort business on Spinner's Drift provides the perfect way to blend in.
They aren't the only ones who think so.
Six months ago Lucky left his life behind and went on the run from mobsters. Spinner's Drift brings solace to his battered soul, but one look at Scout and he's suddenly terrified of having one more thing to lose.
Lucky tries to keep his distance, but Scout is charming, and the island isn't that big. When they finally connect, all kinds of things come to light, including supernatural mysteries that have been buried for years. But while Scout and Lucky grow closer working on the secret, pissed-off mobsters, supernatural entities, and Scout's father are getting closer to them. Can they hold tight to each other and weather the rising tide together?

Great spin off
New series spinning off from the hedge witch books. Don’t feel like you’ve had to read the previous series to enjoy this new start. The characters are an interesting complex and realistic. And overall the book is a pleasant read and I look forward to the next one.
Luck mechanics and romance a sweet combination
The Rising Tide By Amy Lane is the 1st book in a new series. Scout, literally banished by his evil father and Lucky, running from drug dealers , had a rough start to their friendship and romance. With the help of Marcus and Helen they learn that having a bit of mechanical magic in their side they have created a group of friends Lucky and Scout needed to help to be strong against their enemies and believe they are worthy of love. I really enjoyed this book with the appearance of Macklin & Jordan from The Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club and learning the subtlety of mechanical.magic I am looking forward to the next installment.
Wonderful book
I received an uAdvanced Reader’s Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Scout and Kayleigh Quintero, and Lucky have all been gently coerced by the Fates to Spinner’s Drift an archipelago off South Carolina. While none of them know why they ended up here it quickly becomes clear that they all have a paranormal rescue mission on their hands. Many of the characters who found themselves on Spinner’s Drift have esoteric quirks.Lucky and Scout had been magnetically attracted to each other since they had arrived n Spinner’s Drift. When they finally give into this otherworldly allure, they find that it’s easier to give in to their love, and learn to trust that the other will not leave them, than to fight it. Will either of them, or one of their cohorts disappear without warning, due to the very real real world danger they were trying to escape, or will they lose someone while carrying out their paranormal task.
This is a lovely smackeral of a midnight snack of a book. It’s a less angsty Amy Lane read, and quite enjoyable. The main characters Lucky and Scout are lovable and earnest, and they have a relatable love story. They are joined by a constellation of engaging characters, some of whom I imagine we’ll be seeing again. I can recommend that the reader will find this book enjoyable, with a clear conscience.
