Johnny lives with his parents in Northwestern Pennsylvania, where winters are cold and icy. And Johnny knows all about cold and ice -- especially the skating part. He knows he wants to learn to skate, now more than ever since the town made the pond in to a skating rink. As he practices hard and gains skill upon skill, Johnny also gains self-confidence and pride. And then, tragedy strikes! Johnnys dreams are crushed on the pond and his skates forgotten. It will take more than a sunny day to change Johnnys mind about his skates and to change his Winter and his life forever.
