Amazing...next book soon?
“Argolicus asked, “Can you think of anyone who would would want to injure him?” Aemilia Atia gazed into a middle distance. “He wasn’t always loved. He was ruthless in bargains. But, no. I can’t think of anyone who would want to do this.” She waved in the direction of the cubiculum.”
This story is fascinating. Reminiscent at times of Colleen McCullough's “Masters of Rome” series, it is a fast paced multi character murder mystery set in Rome in 512 CE, where a former praefect, Argolicus helps solve the mystery of the death of the head of an old Roman family. No one can figure out why this might have happened but Argolicus, with his skills and abilities gets to the bottom of things.
Much like McCullough, this reviewer does hope that Altair writes many books about Argolicus. Highly recommended.
