A brave woman on the run from her vindictive husband faces a dangerous path in the thrilling new romantic suspense novel from Oscar-nominated actress Meg Tilly.
Sarah Rainsford has been on the run for more than three years. She's changed identities yet again in hopes of throwing her violent estranged husband, a police lieutenant, off her trail. Since she's still legally married to him, and he is willing to bend any laws to get his hands on her inheritance, he'll stop at nothing to locate her.
With a new name and fake ID papers, she lands a job as a personal assistant to none other than Hollywood's golden boy director Mick Talford. He's a difficult client but she senses hidden depths to him. Once Mick and Sarah combine forces in a desperate attempt to keep Sarah out of harm's way, they build a strong bond . . . but with danger trailing them, is it enough to keep them both alive?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Golden Globe–winning actor Tilly takes readers behind the scenes of Hollywood in this refreshing standalone spin-off of her Solace Island series, which pairs an heiress on the run with a big shot director. Sarah Rainsford, now going by Rachel Jones, is in need of a place to stay but unable to access her bank account without risking being discovered. She accepts a job as the live-in personal assistant for bad boy director Mick Talford. Mick, whose reputation is nothing but a charade for the press, is impressed that Sarah's mere presence makes his house feel like a home, something he's never really had before—but he suspects she's hiding something. After Mick gives Sarah an ultimatum, she comes clean: she's on the run from her abusive husband, Kevin, a lieutenant with the NYPD. Love blossoms as the pair join together to investigate both the shady circumstances of Sarah's marriage and the death of her parents in hopes of freeing her from a bad situation. Tilly makes it easy to root for these strong, focused characters, neither of whom has ever been in love before, adding an endearing, first love twist to their romance. The well-developed protagonists and intriguing suspense plot are sure to keep the pages turning.

Flaw Ridden
The main character vacillates between reckless bravado and blind passivity. A major character’s story arc is wrapped up in a sentence or two. There are inappropriate emotional responses (read none) from main characters to major betrayals.
