This book traces the pedigrees and provides background history for the Kentish kings of Saxon Britain, beginning with St. Æthelbyrht and Berctha. The Kent region of Britain has been occupied since the Lower Paleolithic era and was later the main entry point for invading Roman troops circa 43 A.D. Later, the ownership of the land was the center of disputes between the Saxons and the Jutes. This dynastic history begins roughly at 540 A.D.
