Publisher Description
The Scientist Videographer is a detailed how-to for scientists, science educators, and students who wish to make their own videos. By combining text, video, and other interactive content, the author has created an electronic guidebook to science videography. This ebook shows how to plan, shoot, edit, and publish an effective and professional-looking science video to create supplemental online material or video abstracts for journal articles, to show “broader impacts” of research in proposals, to produce online lessons or tutorials, to prepare outreach materials, to demonstrate a new method, or to produce video content for a Website or science blog. The information in this book is not just for scientists, either. Students, educators, consultants, and entrepreneurs will find that the instructions are readily transferable to other fields and different objectives.

A Must-Read for Science Communication
If you’re a scientist, you need to read this book. Dr. Karen McKee lays out the steps for someone with no prior digital media experience to create high-quality videos for sharing science. I’m planning to make videos of my own research and field sites, but also want to try making videos for teaching. Science videos don’t have to be boring—with this book, the reader gets the tools to make science videos engaging and fun. Dr. McKee compares learning to make science videos to learning to use Powerpoint for scientific presentations—it was once a new scary technology but soon all scientists had to learn to use it to present their research.
