The Scribner House stands proudly on the banks of the Ohio River, a testament to the community it has seen through two centuries. Joel, Nathaniel and Abner Scribner founded New Albany when they arrived by flatboat from Pennsylvania in the early nineteenth century. Those pioneers built a thriving town--the largest in Indiana until after the Civil War.
