When she is released into a world terrified of artificial life, she builds a time machine and travels into the twentieth century with five imprisoned AIs, hoping to save synthetic beings by rewriting history before the anti-AI order can exist.

Instead, the rescue becomes an empire. Institutions shift. Families, schools, companies, media systems, and governments are quietly redirected.
