Story Keeps Reader on the Edge of Their Seat

This review was originally published on Kurt's Frontier.

Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:

Dr. Jason Cory has known tragedy and triumph in his life. At an early age, he lost a friend and his mother before his father moved them to Washington state. Now Jason seems to have his life turned around. He has a great career as an emergency room doctor, money, and the love of Jesse. However, there is a shadow over his life. Unexplained events have him questioning the truth of who he really is. Besides the trials and traumas normal to an ER doctor, tragedies and treachery emerge, sending him on a quest for the truth.

Review:

This is the second book I’ve read by Paul W. Nielsen, the first being The Cambion. While not as frightening as The Cambion in the sense of horror, The Second Son is every bit as much the page turner. Dr. Jason Cory finds he has an erratic power to heal. It hits when he least expects it but is frustratingly absent when he needs it. All the while, unseen evil stalks him. The characters are sympathetic and believable, and the story will keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat.
