Christie Meets Wodehouse
This early Christie adventure novel along with its sequel, The Seven DIals Mystery, is a delightful combination of Christie mystery plotting and P.G. Wodehouse characters. Originally published in 1925, it still reads as fresh and full of spirit. Christie’s characters include a handsome, charming colonial with a mysterious past, a beautiful, independent and spirited gentlewoman, a comic peer with a headstrong daughter, and the ever-present Superintendent Battle of Scotland yard. From beginning to end the novel is a delightful escape, with plenty of Christie twists and turns to leave you confused and eager for the denouement.
