Publisher Description

The story is set in the very near future.  A terrorist bomb destroys one of the City of London's most iconic buildings and in the process kills the daughter of the Head of the Chinese Secret Service and the son of an enormously wealthy City Fund Manager.  The 2 furious and grief stricken parents each decide to extract a dramatic and world changing revenge on militant Islam.  China secretly orchestrates the destruction of Mecca.  In England, a Saudi owned country mansion used for suborning politicians and businessmen is raided and exposed to the press.  Watching these events unfold is the emerging hero of the novel, the currently sidelined but future Head of the British Secret Service.  Unusually in works of this genre, the various plots in fact succeed and the book focuses more on the outcomes for the participants and for mankind.  Set mainly in China, England, Nigeria (now highly topical), Syria (also highly topical) and Saudi Arabia, the plots and sub plots weave the reader around the world, as the flames of a general war between Christianity and Islam ignite in West Africa and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia collapses into chaos. China emerges for the first time as the military superpower of the 21st Century and Japan takes on an unusual role as an arbitrator between the world's monotheistic religions.  The novel will be the first of several in which the possible future course of the struggle between China, Islam and the West is traced.
