“Suspenseful, sexy, and soulful.”—J. R. Ward, bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series
After an unspeakable tragedy in Boston, Ava Collette flees to a remote village in Maine, where she rents an old house named Brodie’s Watch.
In that isolated seaside mansion, Ava finally feels at peace . . . until she glimpses the long-dead sea captain who still resides there.
Rumor has it that Captain Jeremiah Brodie has haunted the house for more than a century. One night, Ava confronts the apparition, who feels all too real, and who welcomes her into his world—and into his arms. Even as Ava questions her own sanity, she eagerly looks forward to the captain’s ghostly visits. But she soon learns that the house she loves comes with a terrible secret, a secret that those in the village don’t want to reveal: Every woman who has ever lived in Brodie’s Watch has also died there. Is the ghost of Captain Brodie responsible, or is a flesh-and-blood killer at work? A killer who is even now circling closer to Ava?

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This supernatural thriller from bestseller Gerritsen (the Rizzoli and Isles series) ranks with the best of her crime fiction. Boston food writer Ava Colette travels to Tucker Cove, Maine, where she rents Brodie's Watch, an old house on the coast once owned by a 19th-century sea captain, Jeremiah Brodie. Ava's goal is to finish writing her latest cookbook there, but she's also trying to escape a tragic past. Soon her nights are interrupted by visions of Jeremiah's ghost, who appears to be as real as if he were a flesh and blood man. Meanwhile, she begins to wonder about a series of mysterious if apparently natural deaths in the town and why the last renter left the house so abruptly. After learning more about the house's history and its previous inhabitants, she consults a ghost hunter, whose team discovers some disturbing things about paranormal presences at Brodie's Watch. The stakes rise when Ava figures out that a killer is on the loose who must be stopped. This magnetic haunted house story will keep readers riveted from the very first page.

Gerritson is unstoppable!
I have read most of Tess Gerritson’s books and she never disappoints me. I couldn’t put this book down. With he twists and turns she will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Always a surprise ...
As always, I’m captivated by the skill with which Tess Gerritson entices you to become enthralled in her story. She leads your
Imagination, painting her characters as people you actually see yourself engaging with and wanting to know.
This book is no different, and although it seems as though it may be sexually risqué and not the type of book you’re looking for, I can assure you it’s not a typical BDSM novel. It’s so much more than that, and you’ll be glad you kept reading until the very end. Its twists and plot development keep you turning the pages, anticipating what she has in store for her characters. Truly worth the read!! Enjoy ... she never fails to reward her followers’ curiosity.
