Publisher Description
College baseball changed. Most families haven't caught up.
Roster limits after the House settlement, the transfer portal, NIL, and older rosters have made it harder for true freshmen to earn a spot. In this revised March 2026 edition, coach and baseball dad Walter A. Beede explains what changed and what your family should do about it.
The real roster math, and why a roster spot now matters more than scholarship headlinesHow the portal and NIL reach down to the prospect levelWhy more travel events don't mean more opportunityBusy vs. progressing: how to tell the differenceHow to judge programs on development and fit, not logos
Includes a foreword by a baseball mom whose son was cut after his freshman year, plus the appendix "Questions Every Baseball Family Should Ask Before Saying Yes."
Free resources for baseball families are available at CoachBeede.com.
