THE SHIPWRECK -- The Legend of Rivenloch is born
The origin novella for The Warrior Maids of Rivenloch
When his wife and children die, Viking marauder Brandr has nothing left to live for, so he sails away on one final voyage. A storm at sea leaves him shipwrecked, alone, and barely alive on a foreign coastline. Along the Pictish shore, Avril, a warrior maid and the victim of a Viking berserker, banished from her ancestral home of Rivenloch to a seaside cottage, dreams of the day she’ll raise her sword, take back the castle that is rightfully hers, and find her half-Viking daughter a proper father. Discovering a broad-shouldered, fair-haired, broken castaway washed up on her beach among the wreckage of his longship, she takes him captive and binds him in chains. She refuses to be a Viking’s victim again...never imagining that soon her fiercest enemy will earn her trust, invade her heart, and enthrall her senses.

About Glynnis Campbell
When she's not writing swashbuckling historical romances and playing medieval matchmaker, bestselling author Glynnis Campbell (also writing as Sarah McKerrigan and Kira Morgan) is a cartoon voice, the wife of a rock star, and the mother of two young adults. She's been a ballerina, a typographer, a film composer, a piano player, a singer in an all-girl rock band, and a voice in those violent video games you won't let your kids play. She does her best writing on cruise ships, in Scottish castles, on her husband's tour bus, and at home in her sunny southern California garden. Glynnis loves transporting readers to a place where the bold heroes have endearing flaws, the women are stronger than they look, the land is lush and untamed, and chivalry is far from dead!

This was a good story. It ended in love and starting history.
I have read all except the last one in this series.
This was a really good short story. Really enjoyed it.
In ninth century Pictland (Scotland), Brandr, a Viking who has lost his family is shipwrecked and is found by four year old Kimbery and her mother.
Avail is the rightful heir to Rivenloch. After Viking berserkers killed her father, her brothers send her into exile with her daughter.
Brandr is charmed by four year old Kimbery. Avail and Brandr carry scars and suspicions, not sure what to do next.
A wonderful story; wee Kimbery will bring you laughter with her effervescent nature.
