Whenever Karin Slaughter releases a new Will Trent thriller, it’s a time to celebrate. In The Silent Wife, a prison inmate convicted for an infamous string of brutally violent crimes tells the veteran Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent and his partner, Faith Mitchell, that he can prove the former chief of police framed him for the crimes. If that’s not enough of a doozy, Slaughter’s clinical depictions of the vicious attacks had us gritting our teeth, and so did the web of untruths and deceptions that Will and Faith have to untangle. New to the series? It’s okay to start here: This thriller reveals some of the backstory, especially in the intense flashback chapters that give us penetrating insights into different characters. Whether you’re in the mood for a Lee Child–style bruising action hero or a Gillian Flynn–like domestic thriller, The Silent Wife is a wonderfully escapist read.

Another great read! Karin Slaughter has a way of blowing your mind with her stories. I call it the shock factor!
Grow up Will and Sara!
The relationship between these two is childish, suspended in a junior high school time warp. The killer was apparent early on because the author repeated his type and M/O from one of her earlier criminal characters—a pharmacist….
Slaughter’s horrifying descriptions of the rapes and murders in all of their egregious and sickening detail are terrifying and to her credit, they leapt off the page to stun me. How much better for the reader if the author had been as diligent with her characters as she was with her descriptors.
Just as good the 2nd time..
Love this series of books. My second go around and I laughed, cried, cringed, and tensed all at the same places. I loved falling in love with everything all over again. Can’t wait until the new one releases.
