The story of a young missionary who was the Sky Pilot to rough cowboys
The Sky Pilot is a story of times gone by that we will not see again without following our call to serve the Lord in harder places without all the comforts to which we have become accustomed. It takes place in the foothills country of western Canada in the late 1890s, a country not unlike that in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana just east of the Rocky Mountains. The four chapters about Gwenn in the middle of the book are truly beautiful and were made into a tabletop book which, like The Sky Pilot, sold over a million copies in the early 1900s. Grace Livingston Hill mentions The Sky Pilot two times in "A Voice in The Wilderness." Obviously she had read it and admired it.
