THE STONE

Certain experts have long held that the famed Stone of Destiny now in Westminster Abbey is a 700-year-old fake, being merely a piece of red sandstone quarried at Scone to deceive Edward the First, the Hammer of the Scots, who took it, while the true Scots Coronation Stone was secreted somewhere in the Scone area of Perthshire.
So that when an Oxford University research team decided that they had discovered where the genuine Stone was buried and decided to search for, and recover it, violent repercussions were bound to result and sparks to fly. A young and impoverished Scots baronet decides to take a hand, and in partnership with an ex-riveter and a local farmer’s daughter sets out to ensure that the Stone should remain in Scotland at all costs.
