The Story of Elijah

Growing up in London in the twenties and thirties, a young man mixes a little extortion with his school work, a little theft with his day job, moving on to the black market during the war, and worse. This allows him to live the life he wants relatively happily, except on a few occasions when his sense of reality takes a nasty jolt.
