The Story Of The Great Chenoo

Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903) was an American writer working in the genres humour and satire and collecting folklore. He studied American and European traditions and travelled a lot while working as a journalist. Leland became famous for his comic book 'Hans Breitman's Ballads'.


This short piece of prose represents an analysis of the old Indian myth about The Chenoo made by Charles Leland with his short commentary that contains comparisons to similar characters in the Anglo-Saxon mythology.
