Known for her practice of communicating with her deceased children, newly widowed Mary Todd Lincoln, between wails and sobs, now calls for the spirit of her assassinated husband, President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Upon the appearance of her husband, Mary stops her grieving, and reminds the martyred president that he’d forgotten to take his famous stovepipe hat with him to Heaven. Lincoln asks Mary to help him find a suitable person to give the hat to.
After reviewing several candidates, and following a number of side-tracking conversations about their phenomenal life together, both public and private, Mary reveals that she’d actually found a very qualified resting place for the famous hat.
