For generations, the citizens of Fort Michaelsen, Iowa, have been raised with the same warning: Be home before dark or the Strawman will get you. Part local legend, part imagined bogyman, Sheryl Dauphin knows the story well. But when the college student goes missing, the legend becomes real.

One year later, as drama students at her alma mater prepare to shoot a low-budget horror movie on an abandoned farm, Sheryl is still missing. And as their night shoots begin, changes in their surroundings lead them to wonder if they're the only ones out there, or if they have company at their remote location...
