The Swamp Fox

Francis "The Swamp Fox" Marion became a national figure for his role in the Revolutionary War. As an officer in both the Continental Army and the milita, he led a guerilla campaign against the British which proved extremely effective. Although many histories have inflated his heroics and white-washed his discretions, his documented actions on the battlefield are enough to make him worthy of folk hero status.
