What happened to the lost colony of Roanoke?
In 1586 America, English colonists, trying to eke out a new life, welcome into their midst a young woman and her dog--victims of a ship wreck. But Petra and Kipp are not what they seem.
A pair of time traveling historians, symbionts Petra and Kipp have arrived to unravel the mystery behind an enigmatic coastal colony near Roanoke. As they become involved with the colonists, their fact finding mission spins dangerously out of control when they discover a deranged killer living among the colonists.
"Being a lover of all things canine, the symbiotic relationship between canine and human is immensely appealing." - Lee, verified reviewer
THE SYMBIONT TIME TRAVEL ADVENTURES,
The Great Locomotive Chase, 1862
A Conspiracy to Murder, 1865
Robin Hood, 1192
Wonderful blend of history and fantasy
A time traveler Petra is stuck in the past after her symbiont companion is killed saving her life. For a time she lives among the natives of that time until a natural disaster changes the climate. Soon the natives move on and she is left alone or so she thinks. Instead she meets another symbiont Kipp native to the time period and much more advanced than those of their kind from the future. They forge a bond and together return to the future.
There is much surprise as to Kipp’s unusual nature and a ton of bureaucracy as to what will become of him he decides to stay with Petra. The two are given an assignment to explore the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Or rather the colony that was established in between the two Roanoke expeditions.
Drags a little in the middle with sometimes repetitive details of preparations for their first planned time jump together. However it picks up quickly once the actual trip has begun. I enjoyed the glimpse into Colonial times and what the first settlers had to overcome to thrive. All in all a fascinating read.
