THE SAGA OF THE SLAMMERS BEGINS!
COLONEL ALOIS HAMMER: He welded five thousand individual killers into a weapon more deadly than any other in the human universe. Known throughout the galaxy for their cold, ruthless ferocity, the men of Colonel Hammer's indomitable armored brigade routinely accept impossible missions. Again and again, they go up against overwhelming forces, or fight a two-front war against ferocious opposition, all without atomizing their civilian employers. Can they keep doing it Not if they abide by the rules of civilized warfare...but nobody ever said the Hammers were nice. Even when their chances are not good—those who oppose them have no chance at all!

A very good writer
This is a story of fighting not tactics. There are people to like.
I don't "like" any of these stories although I admire the way they are written but then they were not written for me.
Meh...
The book isn't bad, but David doesn't spend enough time with the characters in the beginning for the reader to become properly acquainted with them. Normally this isn't an issue, for most books have enough time for character development, but he throws so many characters in that I found it rather difficult to keep up with who was who even half way through the book.
Because of that, I felt the plot became more muddled and a bit too much like "Catch 22" or the Faulkner novel, "The Sound and the Fury" with the constant shift among perspectives. But David is still a great author and I'm now on to another of his amazing books.
