Publisher Description
Class is back in session! New York Times bestselling authors of The Academy Elin Hilderbrand and Shelby Cunningham return with The Thoroughbreds: what has more high-stakes drama, tension, and intrigue than senior year at a New England boarding school?
September at Tiffin Academy is always a heady time, especially for the senior class—“sixth formers,” in Tiffin-speak—a season of college applications and intense pressure, of partying hard and last hurrahs. As the chapel bells ring in students and staff, everyone has something to look forward to—but in the midst of the anticipation and excitement, nagging questions and dark secrets lurk beneath the surface…
Are Tiffin’s It Couple, Charley and East, on the rocks? What sparked the rift between football star Dub and his best friend Hakeem? Will Pippa Sacks, posh day student, topple the delicate social hierarchy—or wreak even worse havoc? Can Head of School Audre Robinson save her job—and the school—after a disastrous financial mistake? And what was in that email attachment Cinnamon Peters sent to Dub before she died?
Elin Hilderbrand and her daughter Shelby Cunningham answer these questions and more in The Thoroughbreds, a page-turning story about friendship, treachery, ambition, and growing up, at any age.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Elin Hilderbrand and Shelby Cunningham return to Tiffin Academy for another irresistible year of romance, rivalry, and boarding school drama that’s just as welcoming to newcomers as it is to readers of the first book in the series, The Academy. Charlotte “Charley” Hicks, Andrew “East” Eastman, Davi Banerjee, and their classmates are now sixth-formers, facing college applications, ever-shifting friendships, and the uneasy realization that their time at Tiffin is almost over. Meanwhile, new students and faculty shake up the social order, and Head of School Audre Robinson has problems of her own as both her career and personal life take unexpected turns. Moving easily among students, teachers, and the gossipy collective voice known as “Tiffin Talks,” Hilderbrand and Cunningham give everybody plenty of room to shine. The Thoroughbreds is a warm, dishy sequel that captures both the excitement of senior year and the bittersweet feeling of knowing it can’t last forever.
Customer Reviews
Was worth the wait!
This is book 2 of the series that author Elin Hildebrand and her daughter Shelby Cunningham Hildebrand have written together about an elite preparatory boarding school in Massachusetts. I am so partial to the whole setting of the school with its pristine grounds the phenomenal food and the invested devoted teachers to the classes that had less than 10 of us in them. I’m an alumni of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham Massachusetts and Tiffin reminds me so much of Cushings campus, the dorm parents and even the small elite education program that is an opportunity of a lifetime and boarding with all your friends is most certainly drama filled but only because we all lived so close to one another and for so many years you do become like a dysfunctional family that loves hard and no matter what the circumstances are you always remain close and forgive after conflict.
This series is addictive because of the incredibly genuine characters who all are individually unique and have dynamic personalities. You cheer for their wins and feel for their struggle and it takes you back to the days when all was well in the world and life was so full of possibilities and the world was our oyster. A nostalgic experience for those of us who have had similar experiences and extremely strong bonds with our peers throughout our high school years.
Fantabulous ;)
Positively delicious.
