The Three Suitors

This collection contains thirteen previously unpublished fairy tales—but these are not the ordinary, garden variety children’s fairy tales.  Here you will discover fairies of a decidedly nasty disposition, whom it is much better not to cross; you will encounter strange impets, vengeful Knockers, sleeping beauties, souls hunted by the Devil, sinister “White Ladies,” and even a talking cat.  You will encounter adventure, wonder, horror…maybe even a laugh or two.  Just the usual fairy tale stuff.

“Tom Treadle and the Knocker’s Gold:” in which a lazy youth discovers the danger of filching gold from the Knockers in the hills;

“The Suitable Shoes:” where a young woman learns the advisability of being buried in a suitable pair of shoes;

“The Lay of the Queen of Elphame:” the story of a woman who seeks to rescue her husband and child from the fairies
