Shell McMillan and her furry sidekicks aren’t kitten around when they set out to catch a killer . . .
When her TV series is canceled, struggling actress Shell McMillan considers it a blessing in disguise. A beloved aunt who recently died left her a pet shop in her will, and she sees it as the perfect chance to walk away from Hollywood and make a fresh start in the sleepy town of Fox Hollow.
But adjusting to small-town life won’t be easy, as Shell realizes when the head of the museum board is found murdered not long after Shell had a very public argument with her. And when the new kid in town is fingered for the crime, she’ll have to rely on her own wit and pluck and the kindness of strangers to get herself off the hook.
Desperate to exonerate herself and catch the real culprit, Shell begins digging into the lives of the local residents, and she quickly discovers that the victim had no shortage of enemies. As the suspect list grows and time runs short, Shell and her cats will have to claw their way out of danger—and it’s meow or never . . .

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
LoTempio's entertaining series debut introduces former TV actress Crishell "Shell" McMillan, who inherits a pet shop in Fox Hollow, Conn., from her late aunt, Matilda "Tillie" Washburn. Tillie was well regarded by everyone in Fox Hollow except for Amelia Witherspoon, with whom Tillie had been feuding for years. Shell soon discovers that Amelia is extending the feud to herself, using her position on the museum board to block a showing of Tillie's amazing Cary Grant memorabilia. Shell also learns that the gossip mill in town is alive and well, especially with the help of smarmy Quentin Watson, the publisher of the local rag, who plants a seed of skepticism about the newest resident in his paper. When Shell finds Amelia's dead body, homicide detective Josh Bloodgood puts her on the short list of suspects. Two adorable cats, Kahlua and Purrday, provide solace. LoTempio (the Nick and Nora mysteries) telegraphs the killer's identity too early, but this is a quibble. Feline-loving cozy fans will be satisfied.

Brilliant Debut
Absolutely brilliant! This story brought everything to start this series off right! I wanted to crawl inside its pages and be one of the characters. I wanted the story to continue with 10 more chapters after the wrap-up just because I was hooked on the lives of the characters. I found myself laughing, grinning, dropping my jaw, rolling my eyes, and a myriad of other things to annoy or amuse those around me. I only meant to get started on the book before bed and I ended finishing it in time to watch the sunrise. Even better, there’s a recipe to try! Sign me up for the next book and fingers crossed it comes soon!
Thank you to NetGalley, T.C. LoTempio, and Beyond the Page Publishing for giving me the chance to read this story and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.
