The Time Twisters

The year is 2200 and after the Territorial War of 2170, much of the Earth as it was known is under water and the sun beats down hard and relentlessly. Society has been reordered, speech replaced with messaging; food replaced with highly nutritious pellets and hormone controllers and books are illegal. Family life, love, happiness … they no longer exist. Africa Southern's capital, Mega City South, is several kilometres inland from where Cape Town has now been consumed by the ocean and walled off from the dangerous Wilderness. Sixteen-year-old twins, Arkon and Zelia, exploring the wilderness for a school project come across Adam, an old man living in a cave in the mountains whose ancestors had learnt to adapt to the new harsh climate of Earth. Adam shows them how life used to be lived and encourages them to speak. As a parting gift, Adam gives Arkon a book. Inspired by real food and speech, Arkon and Zelia set about forming an illegal secret club at school, placing them under the watchful glare of Sumuna, the vicious superintendent at the Home.What future do they have in a world of no choice?
