Publisher Description

A pathologically arrogant, wealthy young man sets off on a journey of self-discovery, family tragedy, and sexual conquest in Spencer’s modern California noir debut. His heartfelt story opens with a moving description of the narrator’s mother, Annie Bass, a depressed-raging alcoholic, who leaped off San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, when he was just five years old.

At seventeen Oliver finds himself still haunted by his mothers abandonment and horrible suicide, the loneliness he felt at age five, and the emotional void that came from an absent father. The real drama is whether he can come to grips and separate fact from fiction in order to keep his own sanity intact, when a perfect stranger, who has a penchant for mystery and homicide, suggests his mother was actually a victim of foul play.

“As a character, Oliver toes a curious line between Holden Caulfield and Philip Marlowe. A page-turning mystery with a frustrating protagonist from a veteran storyteller.” —KIRKUS REVIEWS

The Tipping Point of Oliver Bass

This book is a must read. It’s been compared to the classic “The Catcher In the Rye” imbued with mystery and muder. Totally recommend it. The author has captured a delightful and edgy story.
