Trader is a novella in social science fiction. Hector, a finance expert, works on both sides of the law and lives in Brooklyn with Sarah, a political operative working to defeat Marvin Aronson, the incumbent Senator from New York. Aronson is crooked, for sale to the highest bidder.
When New York passes a law allowing citizens to buy and sell votes, Hector's eyes light up. He sees dollar signs well before anyone else. Being clever, he uses economics, money, and weaponized sex to buy enough votes to make millions while choosing the next Senator from New York.
But taking the money means electing Aronson. What if Aronson turns out to be a monster? That happens from time to time. Look at Hitler. He didn't burn down Europe by himself; he had help.
