Publisher Description
I went on a trip overseas, from Australia to Britain and Ireland. I was interested in exploring places I had not been before, and in exploring family history: seeing some of the places where my ancestors had lived, going back around 180 years. I went to London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, Nottingham, Durham, Waterford, Edinburgh, St Andrews, and several small towns in Fife. I kept a diary on the trip. I was gratified by the things I saw, both cities and the countryside.
But I got lost a lot. I had prepared for the trip. I had decided on my destinations, and my routes were planned. Accordingly, I did not expect to get lost, certainly not deeply, repeatedly lost. Why? Was it the fault of the technology I was using? Was it that I did not understand the technology well enough, or was it something personal, something I had to learn? So, it became a quest, to learn the mysteries of lostness.
