I am David. I'm in my late sixties, Disabled Veteran, and I have had problems with the awarenesses encompassed by your touching story. I'm not too sanguine about the Akashic Records but, within my spirit there lies much of what you describe, down to the curmudgeonly deity figures. Very confirming for me.
This is the first religious fantasy I've read that admits it's a fantasy and is, ergo, far more helpful and nurturing than any of the One, True and Only Bibles out there in their choking profusion. It is a breath of Spring on a mountainside.
