INTRODUCTION The use of computer-mediated communication (CMC) in the foreign or second language classroom has opened up new possibilities regarding the type and frequency of interactions between students of a foreign language or between students and native speakers of the target language. As stated in Lee (2008), the use of CMC is beneficial in terms of the quantity of the learner output, the quality of such output, and the possibilities offered for the students' attention to form.
