Edward McKendree Bounds (1835-1913), a native of Missouri, was a clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.  Bounds worked throughout the South, including for the Confederate armies as a chaplain. After the war, he served as a minister in Tennessee for many years.

Most of his books focused on prayer; this collection includes seven of his classics on the topic.
