Publisher Description

A stunning exploration of characters shaped by the forces of history, the debut work of fiction by a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" Honoree.

Moving from modern-day Jerusalem to McCarthy-era Los Angeles to communist Prague and back again, The UnAmericans is a stunning exploration of characters shaped by the forces of history. Molly Antopol’s critically acclaimed debut will long be remembered for its "poise and gravity" (New York Times), each story "so full of heartache and humor, love and life…[it’s] as though we’re absorbing a novel’s worth of insight" (Jesmyn Ward, Salon).

Love the Rue! ,

Stellar collection

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of stories, although each one left me longing for more. The characters were wonderfully developed, even in a few short pages, and I could not help wondering what was going to happen to each of them once the story ended. Absolutely delightful!

Each better than the last

Sometimes collections of short stories can feel unsatisfying. This one is so rich, the characters so complete, the only sadness is coming finally to the end of this wonderful collection. Can’t wait for the next work by this author.
