The Unvanquished

A slave-owning family, the Sartoris clan must navigate a changing society and the often murky moral circumstances arising from the end of the American Civil War. Comprised of seven short stories, The Unvanquished features characters present in many of author William Faulkner’s other works, including Sartoris (Flags in the Dust) which was published nine years before and featured the Sartoris family at a later period in their history.
