The Viscount Ashford has no immediate plans to wed. But with a mother determined to see him settled by the end of the Season, he must do what he can to salvage his freedom. Which leaves him with one choice—convince Miss Mary Trenton to accept his pretend suit. The woman he’s come to think of as a friend is impervious to his charms, and that makes her the perfect choice for this pretend courtship.
Mary has no illusions that Ashford would look twice at her under normal circumstances. Agreeing to help him will allow her to experience what it is like to have a man pursue her. But somewhere along the way, while enjoying the gossip they’re stirring, the line between fiction and reality becomes blurred.
Is it possible the attraction she’s feeling for Ashford might be reciprocated?

Let’s Pretend
Viscount Ashford doesn’t want to marry just yet, but his mother and sister don’t seem to agree. Once before Mary Trenton helped him escape dancing with a room full of debutantes, so her approaches her again for help, this time for a pretend courtship to stave off the debutantes and to pacify his mother for the season. Mary sees this as a chance to experience what a courtship would be like and to escape her horrible sister for a time. Will it work? What if along the way, the two of them developed real feelings for each other? This is a cute, light-hearted friends-to-lovers romance with wonderfully engaging characters, one rather surly villain, and a happy ending.
I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout and am voluntarily reviewing it.
A pleasure to read
Mary and her old friend Viscount Ashford enter into a fake courtship. What happens when their romantic feelings grow all too real?
Both Mary and Ashford are likable and kind, which made this book a pleasure to read. Mary’s sister is an atypical villain, giving this book a fresh feeling.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
