Publisher Description
For years, high-level Catholic prelates in the Vatican have pursued a dangerous conspiracy that risks their careers. Then, in the not-too-distant future, the Catholic Church and the Vatican are in crisis. They need money desperately. The Church faces a drastic shortage of priests. Waves of child molestation lawsuits endanger the Church's solvency. Key Vatican assets are discovered missing. A massive planned lawsuit looms over the Vatican and the papacy. Meanwhile, a new Pope considers sweeping reforms in Church teachings and policies that are certain to divide the Church. Suddenly, a new crisis erupts that threatens the very survival of the 2,000 year-old Church. The Church's own laws and procedures are preventing the Vatican from resolving the crisis. The Vatican Conspiracies takes you behind the Vatican's medieval walls and bronze doors and tells the story of the passions, pressures and politics of the leaders trying to save the Church they love, despite the daunting obstacles they face.

The Vatican Conspiracies
The Vatican Conspiracies.
When I first heard about this book, I knew I had to read it. It checked a lot of boxes for me. The Catholic Church, its history, function, hierarchy, and the Vatican. As I read it, more boxes were opened. The vast wealth of the Catholic Church. The art and architecture, the power, the politics, the secrets, the influence, the sexual accusations, the doctrine of papal infallibility, divine tradition, the secrecy within the church to name a few. The Vatican Conspiracies touches on all of these and more.
The characters were colorful and interesting. Lots of intrigue. I originally downloaded it to my phone, which meant reading 1735 pages on my tiny screen. But I stuck with it and it was totally worth it. The book delves into a lot of the controversies surrounding the Catholic Church. Doctrine. Theology. Legal battles. It shows the dangers of a church that holds Divine Tradition on a higher level than Holy Scripture.
If I had a complaint I would say it covered too many subjects, but I couldn’t put it down. It was like reading three books in one. It is a book I will read again.
