On Christmas morning, the best present in the Boy's stocking was the Velveteen Rabbit — brown and white with long whiskers and stuffed with fluff. The Boy loved the Velveteen Rabbit, and the Rabbit loved the Boy. When the Rabbit learns about Real from the Skin Horse, he looks for a way to become Real himself. He learns that the only way to become Real is to be loved first.
Hague's warm paintings give a soft sheen to Williams's classic story. Ages 5-10.
An all-time favorite!
This was one of my favorite stories as a child, I remember reading it so many times. I’m not really good at remembering things I read as child and especially not what they’re about but this is one of those that never left my heart. I read it to my little sisters and they both really liked it too and it felt good to share it. It was just as emotional and wonderful as I remembered it.
I read this as a child , as an adult working in mental health I read it with a client suffering from Border line personality and it really helped her believe in herself . We really focused on the chapter “what is real” I gave her a copy of it for Christmas and she keeps by her bedside
