Publisher Description
Behind the doors of the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls there lies a secret society of brilliant, fearless women who are bringing justice to London’s most corrupt aristocrats, one nobleman at a time . . .
Other young ladies might occupy their spare time with drawing or needlework, but Sophia Monmouth spends hers scaling rooftops and shadowing suspicious characters. Her objective: to gain information that will free a friend wrongly accused of murder. She hasn’t bargained on being spotted and followed back to the Clifford School by a mysterious earl who holds almost as many secrets as she does.
Tristan Stratford, Lord Gray, earned the nickname the Ghost of Bow Street because no man has ever escaped him. Sophia—all soft curves beneath her disguise—is a unique challenge. Determined to learn the truth about the Clifford School, he joins Sophia in a scheme that leads from Newgate’s cells to the pinnacle of power. But when desire is at odds with justice, succumbing to temptation may lead them both into the heart of danger . . .
“Bradley expertly balances excitement, humor, and heat to create a rollicking romance headlined by a pair of irresistible protagonists. Readers will be eager to see what comes next.”

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A murder investigation leads to adventure, justice, and love in the sparkling Georgian romance that opens the Swooning Virgins Society series from Bradley (To Wed a Wild Scot). Sophia Monmouth, a resident of the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls, is determined to find the criminal who framed her innocent friend Jeremy Ives for murder and see him brought to justice. Tristan Stratford, Lord Gray whose reputation as the crime-fighting Ghost of Bow Street precedes him is obsessed with the same crime because his best friend was the murder victim. Their paths collide when Tristan spots the cloaked Sophia from a distance and, assuming she's a criminal, chases her down a dark London alleyway. Though they're from opposite ends of the social ladder, the wily, street-smart Sophia and the stalwart, intimidating Tristan make a worthy match, engaging in high-spirited verbal sparring and dangerous escapades as they work together to catch the true murderer. Bradley expertly balances excitement, humor, and heat to create a rollicking romance headlined by a pair of irresistible protagonists. Readers will be eager to see what comes next.

Love Anna Bradley
Loved this book and author. I didn’t want to put it down. Read 3 of her books and look forward to finishing this series.
Sophia and Lord Gray
This was a wonderful read. Totally spell binding. Wish it went on and on!
A Page Turner
Tristan Stratford was a Bow Street Runner, in fact a very good one, until his older brother died. Now he is the Earl of Gray. Sophie Monmouth is an orphan who is part of the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls (at least that’s what is says on the sign). Lady Clifford has schooled her students with the routine skills of reading and writing, and investigative skills to rival Bow Street (just not the authority). Tristan watches Sophie climb down from his neighbor’s roof and chases her. Sparks fly, not the romantic kind, not just yet. They discover that they are interested in the same murder case, but for different reasons. Can they work together to solve the murder? How long will they fight the attraction growing between them?
Tristan and Sophie are so good together. Both are smart, caring, and protective. The other characters in the story are likeable and engaging. This story has drama, danger, romance, and a good dose of snarky humor. The mystery that is a real page turner; the villains somewhat surprising. This an awesome beginning to this series. I look forward to the further adventures of Lady Clifford and the girls of her school.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
