The Way to Bear Fruit

What does it mean to bear fruit in the Spirit, and how can we do this? John 15 speaks of bearing fruit, abiding in the vine, and even being chosen that we might bear fruit. “Many Christians consider that this portion of the Word is a teaching concerning abiding in the Lord. This is right, but it is not completely right. If we read these verses carefully, we will see that the stress, the central thought, is not mainly on abiding but on fruit-bearing. Abiding is secondary, while fruit-bearing is primary. The Lord says, ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit’ (v. 5).” The primary matter is fruit-bearing. This series of messages presents the way to bear fruit in the Spirit.
