The engagement escapade!
This season, all eyes are on biddable, well-connected Lady Belle. And for ambitious Benjamin Lovell, she's the perfect candidate for a convenient marriage. First, though, he must contend with her fiercely protective sister, Lady Amelia Summoner. Amy is determined that only the right man will win her sister, and rakish Benjamin is certainly not that. Every move he makes, she'll be one step ahead! Until the games get out of hand . . . and Amy realizes she's broken her own rules and fallen for Ben herself!
"The battle of the sexes is on! An old maid and a dandy square off in this lively, thrilling tale. Readers will enjoy the authentic dialogue and setting, and especially the wicked machinations of a determined heroine. Merrill pens another winner." —RT Book Reviews

Forced myself to finish this book
The leading female character, Amy, was nothing less than a shrew. It was unbelievable to me that the leading male character, Ben, could have ever fallen in love with her. The fact that Amy sister Bella, who was born mentally handicapped, could go, even a few months, attending balls and musicales without the nosy patroness’s or jealous debutantes of the ton discovering her deficiencies, was also difficult to believe.
The sex between Ben and Amy felt more like acts of coercion on his part rather than making love.
I guess, bottom line, I really really did not enjoy this book from its characters to its storyline.?
