The Wedding Video (Screenplay‪)‬

Everyone loves a wedding.

You don't want to read something dry and droll. You want to read something smart and funny. Something you can laugh out loud to.

"The Wedding Video" melts the most subversive comedies ever written into one manic concoction of love and lust. Peopled with wannabe mafiosi, this intriguing farce pits a young man on the rise against the don who wants to bed his fiance on their wedding day.

One mistaken identity after another. Switchbacks, fallbacks and fall guys. Half turns and half wits. Double and triple entendres. All in the space of one mad day.

"The Wedding Video" is a riotous comedy screenplay. It's a sparkling, dizzying take on tripping up the ruling elite.

Will young Figaro get one up on the bombastic Don Almaviva?

'Comedy makes the subversion of the existing state of affairs possible.' Dario Fo

'History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.' Karl Marx

'Sparkling adaptation of Beaumarchais' scandalous plays.' Pierre Alekan

'Audacious farce of disguise and mistaken identity that alternately satirizes and condemns the privileged few.' Maria Grelson

'Marvelous tapestry of farce, wit and frivolity.' Denise Clavel

'Fanciful, fast and funny.' Robert Meyer

Based on Pierre-Augustin Caron De Beaumarchais' revolutionary plays "Le Barbier de Séville," "Le Mariage de Figaro," and "La Mère coupable."

'I think screenplays are the literature of the future. We all live our lives increasingly through screens, so why don’t we write for the screen. For "The Wedding Video" I developed a screenplay style beyond the current American model. It’s a mix of English, Italian, and Japanese, with a dash of the early silents and newsreels. It simplifies the technical parameters so it’s easier for you to read. A lot easier. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it.' Stefano Boscutti
