Promising but disappointing with an okay ending
I liked the first book for the most part. It was enough for me to buy this one for light reading. As I get further into the story, it bothers me that Lex doesn’t act her age. She goes about her investigation like a teenager. Her relationship with her mother is also like a stubborn teen. Even dating Noah, her actions and words are somewhat childish. I’m trying to finish the story but, I have to keep walking away. I’m hoping that in the future she matures. I will check back.
***update***
I came back and finished the book. I’m upgrading my rating and review. Lex was still acting like a teenager but, there was a lot going on and our parents presence does tend to bring back the child in us sometimes.
The book ended well. Lex got a little more mature and is figuring things out.
Excitingly relatable….
I find myself enjoying the series more and more as I start to relate to the hidden secrecy within the characters. The character development is perfect for a cozy mystery and leaves a warm but mystical feeling as the books carry on to the next…. Worth every minute of entertainment.
