Publisher Description

Midrib has a little acorn of a head and a snapped branch of a crab apple tree for his body. His arms are twigs from a Beech tree, his legs are from a Hawthorn bush and his feet are pinecone husks.

He is a Woodoo and lives in a forest with his friends, Filbert and Luff, and fifty-five more Woodoos. In this first adventure, the friends learn about the world around them and about themselves.

Their role is to help look after the great old Oak and the forest , but deciding how to do this is not easy for Midrib. Fortunately his friends and guides help him.

This is a children’s story for young children and new readers. It’s full of wonder, magic and adventure. Friendship, danger, growing knowledge and confusion; plus brave and bold decisions.

This story can also be seen as an educational tool to teach children about the native species in British woodlands.

It is based on and inspired by sculptures made by Jo Coles.
