My whole life changed in the blink of an eye.
I was supposed to start college on the Harkness Women’s hockey team. Now I’m showing up in a wheelchair instead.
Everything about my new life is difficult, and there’s only one person who understands. Across the hall, in the other handicapped-accessible dorm room, lives the too-delicious-to-be real Adam Hartley. His leg is broken in two places.
We bond over broken elevators and hockey games. We’re just friends, of course, until one night when things fall apart. Or fall together. All I know is that I’m falling. Hard.
But can Hartley love someone as broken as me? His deep brown eyes hold their own demons. While my troubles are visible for everyone to see, his are hidden deep inside…

“Nobody writes hockey like Sarina Bowen.” - Elle Kennedy, New York Times bestselling author of The Deal.
Bowen (Coming In from the Cold) imbues the first Ivy Years new adult contemporary with heart and soul. Ice hockey has always been college freshman Corey Callahan's passion until a serious accident leaves her unable to play, let alone walk unassisted. While moving into one of Harkness College's two wheelchair-accessible dorm rooms, Corey meets hockey player Adam Hartley, a former teammate of her older brother. A drunken dare caused Adam to break his leg, which relegated him to the neighboring room and a season off the ice. Despite the disdain of Adam's society-princess girlfriend, Adam and Corey hit it off quickly, bonding over their injuries and a shared love of an hockey video game and soon Corey wants more. But does Adam? Alternating points of view, Bowen skillfully conveys the roller-coaster emotions of two damaged young adults trying to find their way through tough issues and makes us care deeply about what happens to them. This page-turner will have readers eagerly awaiting Bowen's next book. (BookLife)

As an avid reader and a huge hockey fan, this was the perfect book for me. Corey and Adam are a wonderful couple and you can't help but cheer them on from the start. Their characters are so strong and compliment each other so well that you will be invested in this relationship just like they are. Definitely a great read!
I really enjoyed this story. Very surprised it came from the free selection as the writing was better than most from this category.
